So I do feel that having come in with an emergency, my condition was quickly assessed, the

right course of action discussed with me and appropriate action was taken. I felt well

informed and cared for during this phase with the doctor. The surgery went well. The doctor

gave me good info at this point.

Where I was a bit concerned though was that I did not feel like I knew exactly what I was

meant to be doing once I left the hospital. The doctor did see me on discharge, but I forgot

to ask about a sick note. To an extent it seemed there was confusion in my mind with which

doctor I was supposed to be communicating with, regarding this aspect. The staff before

discharge assured me that I would receive the doctor’s note, but I never did in the end. The

same thing happened when I asked for the same with the trauma doctor when I went back

in to have my stitches removed. He was not there that day, and the attendant who helped

remove stitches indicated that that doctor would send me a doctor’s note, but that never

came.

The hospital also indicated I should wait 3 days after discharge, to receive info, but I never

received anything.

So the doctor indicated I did not need any follow up. I have been walking quite a bit, but I

do still experience burning sensations in my lower back, and I have now in my left forearm

also. I went to my house doctor, and he indicated I should tell my physio this, but I had no

physio (I have made an appointment on his recommendation now).

I guess my point is that after I was discharged I did not feel like I had the info to understand

how best to manage myself to full recovery.

Admittedly, it was the other injuries (cuts on legs) that have mostly been my concern

presently (they seem infected, but my house doctor is helping me with a plan to treat

these).”
